Wound healing center names director

SARANAC LAKE - Philip Edie has been named program director for the Adirondack Health Wound and Hyperbaric Treatment Center.

Edie will be responsible for all aspects of the center's operation including ensuring quality patient care, recruiting and hiring, compliance with federal and state guidelines, budgeting and fiscal policies, and marketing and sales.

A Canton resident, Edie most recently served as Chief Information Officer for the Carthage Area Hospital, and River Hospital in Alexandria Bay prior to that.  In these positions, he administered many hospital core support areas, a behavioral health center, physical rehabilitation services, and school-based health centers. He has been working in the healthcare industry since 1998.  One of his most recent accomplishments was administering the implementation of a new hospital information system and electronic medical record.

The Wound and Hyperbaric Treatment Center, located on the campus of Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, specializes in the treatment of chronic wounds and non-responsive conditions.  The center also offers hospital-based outpatient wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.   The center is tentatively scheduled to open in late February.

Edie obtained a Masters of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Management from American Intercontinental University in 2011. He earned a Bachelors of Business Administration in Operations Management from the same university in 2010. He is a veteran with more than ten years of service in the U.S. Army; many of those as a Special Forces medic serving in Central and South America.
