Uihlein residents chip in to help with Hurricane Sandy relief

SARANAC LAKE - Residents at Uihlein Living Center demonstrated their Thanksgiving gratitude by hosting a relief drive for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Prior to the holiday, they accepted basic items from generous community members for residents of Long Island, who were among the millions affected by of one of the most destructive storms to hit the Northeast.  It was also an opportunity to return the favor for the support shown to the North Country following Tropical Storm Irene.
Residents at Uihlein Living Center collected over 100 blankets, four large boxes of non-perishable food items and assorted toiletries.  The items were picked up by members of the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance and Fire Department to be delivered downstate.  The fire squad volunteers were grateful and impressed with the amount of items collected by Uihlein residents.
In addition to the relief drive, Uihlein residents have held monthly fundraisers in support of various causes such as the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation.
