Tupper Lake Supply Claim Top Honors in AMC Golf for Mercy Tournament
August 17th, 2008
Ginny Frenette, who was in charge of the weather, brought sunny skies for a picture perfect day of golf for those who teed off in support of Adirondack Medical Center at the Tupper Lake Country Club on Thursday, August 14th. Mary Sparks, Jim & Rickey Dattola, and Michael Kmack posted a low gross 59 for their round earning them top honors for the tournament and in the mixed flight.
A low gross of 61 earned first place honors in the men’s flight for the Bedore Team of Randy Bedore, Len Gatrell, Zach Meade and Mike Sovey, while the ladies’ flight top honors went to Marilyn Smith, Mary Shaheen, Annabelle Profit and Cindy Platt with a low gross of 76. Dr. Richard Moccia’s team posted the “most honest” low gross score of 86 with team members, Sen. Betty Little, Chandler Ralph, Patricia Gero and Cheryl Breen Randall each taking home free golf lessons for their efforts.
Both a longest drive and closest to the pin contests were held with Linda Pickering and Mary Shaheen claiming the respective ladies' titles while Rhett Colby of AMC earned men’s longest drive honors on the 14th hole and Zach Meade claimed the men’s closest to the pin honors on the 18th hole.
Tom Proulx was the lucky random draw winner of a Callaway X460 driver. Three skins were won with the Bedore team netting two worth $260 and the Tupper Lake Supply Team claiming one skin valued at $130. Len Gatrell also picked up $205 in the 50/50 raffle. Ray Martin sunk his 20-foot putt on the 18th green to earn finalist rights in the putting contest and came within inches of sinking his 50-foot putt. However, his valiant effort was not quite good enough to win the $5,000 putting contest.
Adirondack Medical Center gratefully recognizes the sponsors of this event especially the hole-in-one and putting contest sponsors, Belleville & Associates, Hayes & Wright PLLC, HOSS’S in memory of Dr. Hosley, Hyde Fuel Company, LeRoy’s Auto Sales, Morris Switzer Environments for Health, NBT Bank, and Shaheen’s SuperMarket. Other sponsors included Tupper Lake Supply, Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Community Bank and the Town of Tupper Lake Democrats.
