Saranac Lake Students Present Creative Gifts to AMC

December 22nd, 2010

SARANAC LAKE - Children who find themselves in the Emergency Department at Adirondack Medical Center will now have some fuzzy companions to keep them company.

The students in Ms. Jennifer Moore's Three-Dimensional Design Classes at Saranac Lake High School created "Merry Monsters" as part of a project to give back to the community.  The students hand-crafted about 25 of the imaginative stuffed dolls to give children treated in the Emergency Department so the experience is hopefully less stressful.

Straight out of the students' imagination, the Merry Monsters are fabric dolls in all types of colors, shapes and materials. The Three Dimensional Design Class uses clay, fabric and miscellaneous items to create 3-D works of art.

AMC and the Emergency Department staff is extremely grateful for the thoughtful and creative gift from the students, and it is great to know young patients will be leaving not only on the mend, but with a smile and plush new friend.
