Psychiatrist to Offer Outpatient Services at AMC

SARANAC LAKE - Adirondack Medical Center is proud to announce the addition of Steven Sonnenberg, M.D. to its Medical Staff.  Dr. Sonnenberg will be providing outpatient psychiatry services for the Tri-Lakes Region.

Dr. Sonnenberg, along with Cathy Hill, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, will serve patients through the Colby Center for Psychiatry Outpatient Practice.  The services they will provide include referrals from primary care providers and the community for medication management, court-ordered evaluations and treatment evaluations for patients age five and older.

Dr. Sonnenberg will hold office hours in Lake Placid on Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and in Tupper Lake on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Cathy Hill will provide services in Saranac Lake on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cathy received her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Sage Graduate School in 1998.  She has a specialty in Family Health and is a certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, and she is board certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center.  Cathy has been providing psychiatric care to inpatients of Colby Center at AMC since 2006.

Dr. Sonnenberg received his Medical Degree from Hahnemann Medical University in Philadelphia, Pa., and completed his internship in Internal Medicine and Neurology at University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals in Seattle, Wash.  He completed his residency in Psychiatry at University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals with a Community Psychiatry Concentration, Rural Focus.

Dr. Sonnenberg is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry, and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and Western New York Psychiatric Association.

He is an outdoors enthusiast, and enjoys kayaking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, backpacking and landscape gardening.  Dr. Sonnenberg and his family have been vacationing in the Adirondacks since 2002, and have now relocated to the Tri-Lakes.
