Nurse Practitioner Joins Ranks of Tupper Lake Health Center

June 29th, 2008

SARANAC LAKE – Adirondack Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of Patricia Allott, Nurse Practitioner, to the staff of Tupper Lake Health Center.
Patricia previously worked at a private practice in Saranac Lake, and most recently for the federal correctional facility in Ray Brook.  However, she found herself missing the personal interaction with patients, and as a result came to pursue the nurse practitioner position at the Tupper Lake Health Center.
A nurse practitioner is a mid-level medical provider such as a physician assistant, and because of advanced education is in a position to diagnose a condition, prescribe medications, order laboratory or medical imaging tests, and refer a patient to a specialist.  Patricia has over eight years experience as a nurse practitioner, backed up by 30 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.  The majority of her RN experience came from adult and pediatric Intensive Care Units.  She is certified as a nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and is certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and Advance Cardiac Life Support.
Patricia’s education and continuing education has taken her to St. Francis General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., Harvard University in Boston, Mass., and the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.  Her work experience has spanned both coasts of the United States, from the Boston Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, to San Diego Children’s Hospital, Mt .Zion Hospital Medical Center in San Francisco, and back to the Adirondacks with positions at Elizabethtown Community Hospital and CVPH.
She has been a resident of the Adirondacks for 27 years, and currently resides in Saranac Lake with her husband.
