New physician accepting patients at Lake Placid Health Center

August 13th, 2012

SARANAC LAKE - A new physician is accepting patients at the Lake Placid Health Center, a member of Adirondack Health.

For Dr. Tracey Viola, the opportunity to care for patients and make a home in the Tri-Lakes region is a dream come true.  Both she and her husband are from New York, and both have a passion for the outdoors.

Dr. Viola is board certified in Family Medicine, and has completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine.  She is particularly drawn to the preventive aspect of Family Medicine, and has worked extensively as a team physician or medical staff volunteer at high school, college and amateur athletic events, as well as large scale competitions such as marathons.

"I knew since I was a child this is what I wanted to do, and I am so grateful to call this area my home," said Dr. Viola. "As a physician, I hope to encourage all people to embrace an active lifestyle, and to work with athletes of all levels and ages, including those at the Olympic Training Center."

Dr. Viola received Bachelors of Science in Human Biology and Sociology as a double major, and a Masters degree in Anthropology from the University of Albany.  She earned her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine at the New York Institute of Technology.

She has played soccer most of her life, and has been running marathons as a fundraiser for the past ten years.  Dr. Viola hopes to add hiking, snowshoeing and biking to her list of hobbies now that she has moved to the area.
