New Life Center at AMC Balances Human Touch with Technology

May 26th, 2010

SARANAC LAKE - Caring for newborns at Adirondack Medical Center is a balance between the human touch and medical technology.

A "Panda Ires Bedded Warmer" was recently acquired for the Stafford New Life Center at AMC, and is used for the warming and stabilization of babies following every birth at the Medical Center.

In addition to routine deliveries the Ires warmer can be used for newborns requiring advanced care.  The special warming bed has built in resuscitation equipment, an oxygen level monitor, and built in scale for weighing without having to transfer the baby to a separate scale.  The heating system for the bed is unique in that it warms the baby while keeping the surrounding environment comfortable for the caregiver.

The Panda Ires Warmer at AMC is the same equipment used in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Albany Medical Center.
