Medication linked to rare form of meningitis not used at AMC

SARANAC LAKE - Adirondack Medical Center, a member of Adirondack Health, does not use and has never distributed the injectable steroid currently linked to the meningitis outbreak elsewhere being reported in the national media.

The injections are primarily used to treat lower back pain.  The cases in question are associated with a potentially contaminated steroid medication prepared by New England Compounding Center (NECC), located in Framingham, Mass.   AMC has never purchased or distributed any products from this drug maker.

The Pain Management program at Adirondack Health is overseen by Dr. Byung Ho Lee, who is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management, and Fellowship trained in Cardiac Anesthesia.  Questions about the Pain Management Program at Adirondack Health can be directed to (518) 897-2750.
