George LaFlamme Earns ABCD Award at AMC

    SARANAC LAKE – George LaFlamme, who works in Facility Services for AMC-Mercy in Tupper Lake, was named an ABCD recipient for the month of May.
    The program, known as ABCD, stands for “Above & Beyond the Call of Duty.”
    The ABCD Award is presented to AMC employees who provide exemplary services or care that is outside of their job requirements and reflects positively on them, their field of practice, community and AMC.
    In a certificate of appreciation, it was pointed out that George knew of a resident who was particularly close to Dr. David Thomashow, who had passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.  The resident wanted to pay final respects to Dr. Thomashow by attending his funeral services, but was unable to get into a car. George came into work on his day off and drove the resident in the facility van in order to pay final tribute to Dr. Thomashow.  Clearly, Dr. Thomashow meant a lot to this resident, and George’s selfless action helped this resident at a very difficult time. Without a doubt, this is an example of going above and beyond the call of duty!
    In addition to a certificate of appreciation, George was given a $50 gift certificate. Adirondack Medical Center will announce ABCD winners on a monthly basis.
