Gear up for spring with runners' clinic

March 12th, 2012

SARANAC LAKE - Spring is in the air, and the running season will be here before we know it.

Avoid any nagging injuries by having a sports medicine professional assess any biomechanical problems at the Runners' Clinics offered by the Rehabilitation and Sports Science Department at Adirondack Health.

The first clinic will be held at Adirondack Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine at 39 Court Street in Plattsburgh on March 15.  Start times for the clinic are 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with four participants allowed per time slot.  Subsequent Runners' Clinics will be held at Adirondack Health's Lake Placid Rehabilitation & Sports Science facility at 29 Church Street on March 22, April 19 and May 10.

Each individual will receive a Computerized Running Gait Analysis, Functional Movement Assessment, Bio-mechanical screen with footwear recommendations, body composition measurements, and runners' specific flexibility and strengthening exercises.  The cost is $35 per person.

Contact Certified Athletic Trainer Dino Angelopoulos at (518) 523-8589 with questions or to reserve a spot in the clinic.  The Runners' Clinic is sponsored by the Adirondack Health Rehabilitation and Sports Science Department, Lake Placid Sports Medicine Center and Adirondack Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine.
