Foundation offers 3 scholarships for those pursuing a health care career

March 30th, 2012

SARANAC LAKE - The Adirondack Health Foundation is committed to improving the health and quality of life of individuals in the communities served by Adirondack Health.

The Foundation awards up to three $3,500 scholarships annually to traditional or non-traditional students from the Tri-Lakes region who have been accepted in an approved Nursing or Allied Health program.  Recipients may receive funding a second year if they maintain a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.  They are asked, in return, to work at Adirondack Health for a minimum of two years upon graduation.

Courtney Lane, one of last year's scholarship recipients, is currently in her second semester at North Country Community College in the nursing program.  In addition to a strong support network of family and friends, the scholarship has lessened some of the stress of keeping up with tuition costs.  All of this has allowed Courtney to focus on her studies in order to achieve a high grade point average. She is already looking forward to the knowledge she will gain in the coming semester.  Courtney developed her passion for health care after taking a nursing class in high school.  She greatly enjoyed the course, which made her realize how much she wanted a career where she could help people.

For more information on the scholarship program and to apply, please go to www.AdirondackHealth.org and select the "Support" tab on the top, far right and look for Scholarships on the left of the drop down box. The deadline for applications is April 15th, please mail to:
