David Guasta, Ph.D., to Head Up AMC-Mercy in Tupper Lake

November 23rd, 2009

SARANAC LAKE - Adirondack Medical Center welcomes David Guasta, Ph.D., who will be serving as the Assistant Vice President of Long Term Care at AMC-Mercy in Tupper Lake.

David brings with him a great deal of knowledge and experience, and has been working as a nursing home administrator since 1992.  He replaces Don Lewis who left AMC-Mercy to pursue other professional opportunities.

David's most recent assignment was as a long term care consultant.  As a consultant, David presented seminars at the American College of Health Care Administrators on Alzheimer Care, and met with hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living organizations, to advise on issues such as care, management, marketing, and census growth.

He has earned a doctorate in Gerontology, and his dissertation was on Alzheimer's disease.  David was a postdoctoral fellow at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in neuropathology, and at Yale in clinical pathology. He owned and operated a medical laboratory, and was recruited by long term care facilities to utilize his training and background on Alzheimer care, leading him to combine his management and clinical skills to pursue a career as a licensed nursing home administrator.

"David has worked in a diverse range of clinical and long term care settings," said Michele Byno, AMC's Chief Long Term Care Officer. "He brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and innovation to the staff and residents of AMC-Mercy in Tupper Lake."

In addition to Long Term Care facilities in Lake Placid and Tupper Lake, AMC operates hospitals in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, and primary care clinics in Keene, Lake Placid and Tupper Lake.
