Blood Drives to be Held at AMC-Mercy, AMC-Uihlein

December 29th, 2009

SARANAC LAKE - Adirondack Medical Center's long-term care facilities in Lake Placid and Tupper Lake will be hosting blood drives in conjunction with the CVPH North Country National Blood Center.

The blood drives are open to the public, as well as employees and residents of AMC-Uihlein in Lake Placid and AMC-Mercy in Tupper Lake.

Donating is quick and virtually painless.  It takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to donate.  The blood donor staff has a combined total of over 20 years experience in the donor program.  People with cancer, anemia, severe burns and those undergoing surgery for illness or injury benefit from the donor's generous gift.  Remember, the need for blood during the winter months is just as critical as other times of the year.

This is local blood for local people.  AMC receives 90 to 95 percent of its blood collected locally by the Blood Center.

Potential donors are asked to bring a photo ID, and will be asked to fill out a questionnaire prior to donating.  The blood drives will be held at the following times and locations:

- Thursday, January 7th, 2010, from noon to 5 p.m. at AMC Uihlein, Lake Placid

Snow Date: Monday, January 11th, 2010 from noon to 5 p.m.

- Wednesday, January 27th, 2010 from noon to 5 p.m. at AMC Mercy, Tupper Lake

Snow Date: Monday, February 1st, 2010 from noon to 5 p.m.
