Barbara Wood Earns ABCD Award at AMC-Uihlein

April 13th, 2008

SARANAC LAKE – Barbara Wood, who is the Switchboard Operator at AMC-Uihlein in Lake Placid, was named an ABCD recipient for the month of March.
The program, known as ABCD, stands for “Above & Beyond the Call of Duty.”
The Above & Beyond the Call of Duty Award is presented to AMC employees who provide exemplary services or care that is outside of their job requirements and reflects positively on them, their field of practice, community and AMC.
According to a proclamation presented to Barb, her position at AMC-Uihlein’s switchboard often makes her the face and voice of the facility, where she positively interacts with everyone. Barb has been quietly working six days a week for the past two months due to a staffing shortage, with very little time off, but you won’t find her complaining.  Instead, you’ll find her smiling, eager to help, ready to work from this central hub of activity.  Barb cheerfully greets all who come to AMC-Uihlein, whether it is residents, family members, or co-workers.  She’s works well with all departments, and is eager to help in any way – whether it is personal shopping for a resident or helping with a daily activity, making beautiful signs, or to cheer someone up.  Barb is a model employee and a shining example of going above and beyond the call of duty.
In addition to a certificate of appreciation, Barb was given a $50 gift certificate. Adirondack Medical Center will announce ABCD winners on a monthly basis.
