Art exhibit honors those confronted by cancer

March 15th, 2012

SARANAC LAKE - An art exhibit honoring the journey people face when confronted by cancer is currently on display at Adirondack Medical Center, a member of Adirondack Health.

Launched in 2004, the Lilly Oncology on Canvas Art Competition and Exhibition invites people who are diagnosed with any type of cancer as well as those affected by the diagnosis, to express through art and narrative the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journey meaning.  Prizes for the winning artwork consist of donations made to the cancer-related charities of the artist's choice.  Art from the competition is then put on display at hospitals, cancer centers and cancer advocacy group events.

The current display at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake features 20 pieces of work from the Lilly art exhibit, and is located in the hallway near Medical Imaging, which provides services such as mammography, CT scans and other diagnostic radiology (x-ray).

The exhibit will be on display until April 6, and is open to public viewing during normal hospital hours.  For more information on the Lilly Oncology on Canvas program, or to submit artwork, visit www.LillyOncologyOnCanvas.com.
