Annual Crystal Gala Honors Two for Service, Dedication

June 11th, 2008

SARANAC LAKE – It was an unseasonably warm Adirondack evening, but it did not deter over 250 guests and supporters from attending the 11th Annual Crystal Gala at the exquisite AuSable Club in St. Hubert’s, Keene Valley.
Hosted by the Adirondack Medical Center Foundation, this year’s event was held in honor of Thomas F. Minehan, M.D., and Rev. George O. Nagle, who were each presented with the Medical Center’s Distinguished Service Award.  The AMC Distinguished Service Award recognizes those individuals who have significantly contributed to the hospital’s mission either through professional services or volunteerism.
William M. Viscardo, M.D., Vice President of Medical Affairs for AMC, and his wife, Kirsten, served as this year’s Honorary Chairs, and welcomed guests as they arrived greeting them with champagne butlers, hors d’oeuvres, and the music of strolling violinist Joel Perkins.  Inside the AuSable Club, guests were also treated to the sounds of pianist Barry Blumenthal.
At 7:30 p.m. guests adjourned to the dining room for dinner, which was followed by dancing in the library to the swinging sounds of A.D.K. Jazz.
The highlight of the evening was the drawing for the “Escape the Ordinary” Raffle, which was won by Mr. David Bell of Tupper Lake.  The raffle prize was a choice of an Alaskan, Caribbean, or Hawaiian cruise for two, or $3,500 in cash.
All proceeds from the gala will support AMC programs and services to fulfill its mission of excellent health care close to home. To learn more or support the effort, please contact the AMC Foundation Office at 897-2370.
