Adirondack Internal Medicine & Pediatrics Welcomes Dr. Megan Wright

February 2nd, 2009

SARANAC LAKE – Adirondack Internal Medicine & Pediatrics, with offices in Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake, is pleased to announce the addition of Megan Patricia Wright, D.O., to their practice.
Dr. Wright is a life-long resident of the Tri-Lakes region.  After practicing for five years in Star Lake, she has returned to her home town of Tupper Lake where she lives with her husband and two young daughters.
Most recently, Dr. Wright served as family physician at the Clifton Fine Hospital in Star Lake.  The scope of her practice was as the sole practitioner in a hospital-based outpatient clinic, as well as providing inpatient care in a critical access hospital for acute care and swing bed patients.  Dr. Wright was also the primary physician and medical director for the long-term nursing home facility in Star Lake.
She completed her post-graduate training at the Trident Family Medicine Residency Program in Charleston, S.C., from 2001-04.  Dr. Wright received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, N.Y., in 2001.  Like an M.D., an osteopathic physician completes four years of medical school and can choose to practice in any specialty of medicine. However, osteopathic physicians receive an additional 300 to 500 hours in the study of hands-on manual medicine and the body’s musculoskeletal system, and places an emphasis on helping the patient achieve a high level of wellness by focusing on health promotion and disease prevention.
Dr. Wright is board certified in Family Medicine and with the National Board of Osteopathic Medicine.  In her spare time, Dr. Wright enjoys hiking, skiing, cooking, and college football.  She will be seeing patients at both of Adirondack Internal Medicine’s locations in Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake.
As a family practitioner, Dr. Wright cares for all age groups – from infants to the elderly.  She has a special interest in preventative medicine and end-of-life care. Adirondack Internal Medicine & Pediatrics can be reached at 891-3845 in Saranac Lake, or at 359-7222 in Tupper Lake.
