Adirondack Health welcomes chief officer to lead senior services
October 29th, 2012
SARANAC LAKE - Marc Walker, a skilled and compassionate leader, has joined the Adirondack Health leadership team to implement a new vision for
the Uihlein
Living Center
campus.
Marc has
hit the ground running as the Chief Senior Services Officer, a new title that
more accurately reflects Adirondack Health's
mission and vision to provide a range of elder services beyond traditional long
term care. In addition, Marc is responsible for the oversight and daily
operations of the Living Centers in Lake Placid and Tupper Lake. He is the administrator of record for the Uihlein Living
Center, and David
Reynolds, who is also new to the Adirondack Health family, is the administrator at the Mercy Living Center.
As an
administrator for senior living facilities, Marc has an extensive background
working in settings that have incorporated different levels of care leading up
to traditional long term care services.
His experience is ideal for establishing an array of quality senior
living programs and services with a focus on the needs of each resident as an
individual.
"My
ultimate goal is to enrich the lives of the residents," said Marc. "I look at every resident individually and
work to ensure they are successful. We
will strive to become a family with them."
As for
this next chapter in his personal and professional life, Marc is ready to
settle into the community and the organization.
Achieving the transformation of the Uihlein campus will ultimately be
better for the community, Marc notes.
Most importantly, he believes the redesigned campus will better serve
the residents.
"I
envision the Uihlein campus transformation to allow Adirondack Health to be able to provide a wide range of
services and programs on this magnificent campus," said Marc. "The services and programs will be designed
to meet the need of the community in terms of access, service and the overall
healthcare experience."
Adirondack
Health announced in June plans for a
new vision to provide a complete range of health care services on the Uihlein
Living Center campus. Currently, there
are two separate facilities in Lake Placid. All services currently offered at the former Placid Memorial
Hospital on Church Street will
be relocated to the Uihlein campus on Old
Military Road.
Plans for the Uihlein campus also call for the construction of a medical
fitness center. Adirondack Health is actively engaged in the planning process
for the new vision with involvement from residents, their families, staff and
the broader community.
"We are
very fortunate as an organization and community to have Marc leading this
effort," said Chandler Ralph,
President & CEO of Adirondack Health,
"He has the experience, the integrity and the passion to achieve the vision for
the Uihlein campus."
Marc and
his eight-month old golden retriever, Peyton, have already settled into the
community. In addition to senior care,
Marc has a passion for outdoor activities, entertaining and travel.
