AMC-Uihlein to Host Traveling Art Exhibit

July 14th, 2009

SARANAC LAKE - Later this month AMC-Uihlein in Lake Placid will be hosting a unique, traveling art exhibition.  The annual exhibition is a display of artwork created by artists who are residents, clients, volunteers, and staff of long term care facilities that are members of the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (NYAHSA).

Known as the NYAHSA Traveling Art Exhibit, the show will open on Monday, July 27 with a reception from 3 to 7 p.m., and will continue daily between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through August 11.  The public is invited to tour the exhibition while it is at AMC-Uihlein, which is located at 185 Old Military Road in Lake Placid.  Both the reception and daily exhibit are open to the public, free of charge.

The exhibition consists of art selected from entries in a competition that is open to individuals with a connection to NYAHSA. This is the 19th annual competition and exhibition and there were more than 200 entries for judging. Three Directors of Activities from member facilities served as jurists and 70 pieces were selected to travel the state.

The New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging and its affiliate NYAHSA Services, Inc. jointly sponsor the project.  NYAHSA is a statewide association whose more than 600 not-for-profit members represent the full continuum of long-term care serving more than 500,000 aging and special needs New Yorkers every year.  NYAHSA Services, Inc. gives health care providers opportunities to save on insurance, telecommunications, energy and other purchasing programs.

In addition to skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Lake Placid and Tupper Lake, AMC operates hospitals in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, along with primary care clinics in Keene, Lake Placid and Tupper Lake.
