AMC-Mercy Project Enters Final Stages

March 23rd, 2010

SARANAC LAKE - As the construction and renovation work at AMC-Mercy in Tupper Lake enters its final stages, the front entrance to the facility is being temporarily closed beginning this week.

The alternate entrance during the internal construction work will be at the rear of the building near the loading area.

The construction work involves renovating the resident rooms at AMC-Mercy, adding renal dialysis stations, creating a 10-bed rehabilitation unit, and relocating the outpatient Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Department at the AMC-Mercy location from downtown.

In addition to the work at AMC-Mercy, Adirondack Medical Center has made a significant investment in upgrades to its health care facilities in Tupper Lake, including the construction of a 13,000-square-foot Medical Office Building opposite the Nursing Home.  The overall project cost is about $8 million, which was funded through generous community support, grants, and financing.

Construction work at AMC- Mercy is expected to conclude in mid to late July, at which time the main entrance will re-open.
