AMC-Mercy Employee Earns ABCD Award

    SARANAC LAKE – Stephanie Cassell, who is the Director of Nursing at AMC-Mercy in Tupper Lake, was named the ABCD recipient for the month of August at Adirondack Medical Center.
    The program, known as ABCD, stands for “Above & Beyond the Call of Duty.”
    The Above & Beyond the Call of Duty Award is presented to Adirondack Medical Center employees who provide exemplary services or care that is outside of their job requirements and reflects positively on them, their field of practice, community and AMC.
    “I am very proud of the work Steph has done,” said Michele Byno, Vice President of Long Term Care for AMC, “She is both an inspiration to her co-workers and a joy for the residents.”
    The basis for Stephanie’s selection as an ABCD recipient was outlined in a proclamation and shared with staff at a recent ceremony:
    “Stephanie is an exceptional nurse.  Not only does she come in on her days off if needed, she is always helping the staff with their daily routine.  Most recently, on top of her duties at AMC-Mercy, Stephanie drove to AMC-Uihlein to assist staff there in their time of need.  In addition, she came into work on a weekend to help out with unusually heavy workload.  More importantly, she goes out of her way to make the staff and residents feel appreciated and loved.  It is not uncommon for Stephanie to reach into her own pocket if there is a staff member or resident in need.  Stephanie is a leader and a friend, and a great example of someone going Above and Beyond the Call of Duty!”
    In addition to a certificate of appreciation, Stephanie was given a $50 gift certificate. Adirondack Medical Center will announce ABCD winners on a monthly basis.
