AMC Welcomes Two New Board Members

SARANAC LAKE - Adirondack Medical Center Board of Trustees welcomes its newest Board members, Trustees Julie D. Connors and David Hochschartner.


Julie Connors is Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager at NBT Bank in Saranac Lake. She manages sales and service delivery of the branch office through communication and implementation of policies and procedures. She is currently a member and Treasurer of the Saranac Lake Rotary Club and a past member of the Adirondack Economic Development Corporation's loan committee. Julie is also Secretary of the Lake Placid Child Care Committee/After School program, and she has a degree in Economics Management from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York. "I feel that my financial background in the banking industry while working with many businesses and customers in the Tri-Lakes helps me bring an valuable knowledge to the AMC Board and communities AMC serves," said Mrs. Connors. She continues by saying that she is originally from the North Country and enjoys golfing and skiing with her family. "I love the area and am glad that I'm able to live, work and raise a family here," added Mrs. Connors.


David Hochschartner is Headmaster at North Country School in Lake Placid where his tenure includes creation of the Intersession program, increased faculty diversity and the completion of the Vision 2015 strategic plan. Prior to his repositioning at North Country School, David served as Director at Presidio Hill School in San Francisco, California. From 1982-1991, David served the North Country School in many facets including science teacher, department chair, Dean of Students and Assistant Headmaster. "I came up to the Adirondacks over two decades ago," said Mr. Hochschartner. "Working at North Country School allows me to combine my passion for progressive education with my life-long love of Nordic skiing, rock and ice climbing."

David was recently elected commissioner on NYSAIS Accreditation Committee and is the President of the Junior Boarding School Association. He has also presented at numerous educational conferences including the TABS annual conference and NAIS National Conference. "Quality healthcare close to home is essential for the region, for my school and camp, and for my family," says Mr. Hochschartner. "AMC is an institution that I am delighted to be a part of."


In addition to the new two Board members, the Adirondack Medical Center Board of Trustees is comprised of ten other trustees representing the greater Tri-Lakes area. They are Reverend George Nagle, Reverend Carlos Caguiat, Jay S. Federman, M.D., Margot Gold and C. David Merkel, M.D. of Saranac Lake, Jan Demers and John Hopkinson, PhD of Lake Placid, Mary Sparks and Jon MacAbee of Tupper Lake, and Emily Selleck of Keene.  The officers of the Board are Rev. George Nagle (Chair), Margot Gold (Vice Chair), and Emily Selleck (Secretary/Treasurer).  Serving the Board in an ex-officio capacity are Dr. Michael Oberding, Medical Staff President, Dr. Paul Seward, AMC Vice President for Medical Affairs, Chandler M. Ralph, AMC President and CEO, and Dr. Charles Gibbs, President of Trudeau Health Systems.
