AMC, NCCC Team Up for Senior Health & Fitness Fair

May 18th, 2008

SARANAC LAKE – The Adirondack Wellness Network, along with co-sponsors Adirondack Medical Center and North Country Community College, are partnering to celebrate the 15th Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day on May 28 from 12 noon to 6 p.m.
This year, the theme of National Senior Health & Fitness Day is “Fitness … A Lifetime Investment.”  As an official host, Adirondack Wellness Network will hold a Senior Health & Fitness Fair on May 28th at the Sparks Athletic Complex – Alumni Gymnasium at North Country Community College, Saranac Lake campus.
“There will be a full day of events including prescription medication checks, balance screenings, walks, presentations, screenings, raffles, entertainment, and over 30 exhibitors representing organizations from throughout Essex and Franklin counties,” stated Adirondack Wellness Network Program Manager Jessica Darney Buehler.
This is just one of the events going on where more than 100,000 seniors across the country expect to join together to promote an active, healthy lifestyle through physical fitness, good nutrition and preventive care. According to Ms. Darney Buehler, “This fair is a wonderful opportunity for seniors to make, renew, and revitalize their commitment to live healthier lives through better health and fitness.  Through the event seniors and their care-givers will have the opportunity to learn about and make connections with local resources, programs, services, and activities available to them.”
