AMC Medical Imaging Department Earns Accreditation

     SARANAC LAKE - The Medical Imaging Department at Adirondack Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
     The new MRI began serving Adirondack Medical Center patients in the fall of 2006.  It is a high-field, state of the art system.  MRI services have been expanded to offer a fourth day of imaging on Thursdays. 
     Another sign of cutting-edge technology is the new 32-slice CT scan operating in Medical Imaging. The faster scanning time means less time for the patient to lie on the CT bed, and results in an exceptionally high quality scan. Physicians and staff are currently training on new cardiac applications. 
     The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology as well as the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
