May 22nd, 2007
SARANAC LAKE - Adirondack Medical Center is pleased to announce they will present the hospital's distinguished service award to Dr. Roy Slaunwhite and Dr. Brad Stephens during the Crystal Gala celebration at the Wild Center Natural History Museum in Tupper Lake on Saturday, June 9th.
The AMC distinguished service award recognizes those individuals who have significantly contributed to the hospital's mission either through professional services or volunteerism.
Dr. Slaunwhite has been on staff at the Medical Center since 1976. Board certified in Pediatrics, Dr. Slaunwhite has developed a subspecialty in allergies and asthma. He is the founding President of Trudeau Health Systems, the hospital-physician organization, and served the medical staff for many years as the Chief of Medicine.
Dr. Stephens joined the AMC Medical Staff in 1992 when he arrived in the Tri-Lakes to assist in establishing the Medical Center's Sports Medicine program, which has become a center of excellence for the hospital. A board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Stephens has worked closely with the Olympic Training Center and currently serves as the team physician for the U.S. Luge Team.
David & Beth Johnson of Tupper Lake are serving as this year's Honorary Chairs and will be welcoming guests as they arrive and greeting them with champagne butlers, hors d'oeuvres, and the music of a strolling violinist, Joel Perkins. At 7:30 p.m. guests will adjourn to the Wild Center's grand hall to dine on filet mignon and stuffed sole. This will be followed by dancing to the tunes of Jenni & the Jazz Junketeers, a high-energy seven-piece group from Burlington with a reputation for captivating their audience with a wide selection of soul, R&B, and smooth jazz. The beautiful Wild Center, which opened in July of 2006, is the Adirondack's premier natural history museum.
A Super Wild Raffle is being held in conjunction with the gala with $20,000 in cash prizes being awarded to the winners. Only 500 tickets, at $100 per ticket are being sold, with the $10,000 grand prize winner and other winners announced at the gala.
