AMC Foundation Hosts Successful Benefit Golf Tournament

August 6th, 2010

SARANAC LAKE - It was a picture perfect day for Adirondack Medical Center Foundation's 15th Annual Golf Tournament at the Lake Placid Club Mountain Course on July 30th.

It was also an emotional win for the team that took First Place at the annual fundraiser.  Prior to the tournament, Larry Maxwell and his team Maxwell's Marauders dedicated their game to Casey McHugh.  Casey died unexpectedly earlier this year, and was the son of Kathy McHugh who works for the AMC Foundation.  Larry played golf with Casey on several occasions and felt dedicating his tournament round in Casey's memory was a fitting tribute.

Larry and his teammates Don Mortinson, Mike Keniston and Andy Donatello shot a 56 to claim the top spot in Flight 1.  First Place in Flight 2 went to the CVPH team of Mike Hildebran, Gary King, Matt Arless, and Chris Booth with a final score of 64.  First Place in Flight 3 went to the team sponsored by Dr. Richard Moccia: Rhett Colby, Mike Smith, Kristin Meissner, and Jennifer Patnode with a score of 65.

Other tournament highlights and notables included the Men's Closest to the Pin winner, Patrick McHugh; Women's Closest to the Pin winner, Kathleen Coonan; Men's Longest Drive winner, Andy Donatello; and Women's Longest Drive winner, Kate Eldridge.  Winner of the 50/50 Raffle was Chuck Dodson, and Kevin Kieff's name was pulled for a brand new Big Bertha driver.

Honors for the Most Honest Team went to Rob Broccoli, Noelle Richer, MaDena DuChemin, and Jimmy DuChemin.  That foursome was sponsored by Gilroy, Kernan & Gilroy.

For those who haven't got their golf fix for the season and want to support AMC, there are still openings for the Fourth Annual Tupper Lake Benefit Golf Tournament at the Tupper Lake Country Club on Aug. 20 starting with a shotgun start at noon.

A final total on funds raised is not yet available, however all proceeds benefit the programs and services of Adirondack Medical Center.  For more information or to support AMC, log onto www.amcCares.org.
