AMC Auxiliary wins Advocacy Award

SARANAC LAKE – The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) recently presented Adirondack Medical Center Auxiliary with one of 64 statewide Auxiliary Advocacy Awards. This award recognizes individual Auxiliaries’ contribution to their healthcare facilities and their communities.
During 2005, AMC Auxiliary participated in the statewide Legislative Alert Network, joined HANYS letter-writing campaigns, participated in HANYS Statewide Advocacy Day in Albany and stayed abreast of the latest Political Action Committee information, making individual contributions.
AMC Auxiliary members also provides pertinent services to Adirondack Medical Center such as working in the Gift Shop, sitting at the Information Desk, delivering flowers and mail to patients, and helping with patient transport throughout the hospital. Outside of AMC, the Auxiliary works at community health fairs, local clothing drives, food collection offices and raises money through their annual Antiques Show and Sale at the Saranac Lake Civic Center.
In addition to providing valuable services, these activities help to raise awareness of the prominent role played by health care facilities in the larger community. Statewide, over 230 health care Auxiliaries are affiliated with HANYS, which serves as the key advocate for more than 450 non-profit and public hospitals, health systems, nursing facilities, home care agencies, hospice and adult day care programs, and other related health care facilities throughout New York State.
