AMC Announces New Vice President of Long Term Care

    SARANAC LAKE – Adirondack Medical Center is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Michele Byno as the new Vice President of Long Term Care.
    Michele is responsible for the daily operations of AMC’s two skilled nursing facilities.  She is the administrator of record for AMC-Uihlein in Lake Placid, and holds administrative oversight for AMC-Mercy in Tupper Lake where she most recently served as the Assistant Vice President of Long Term Care.  AMC is currently recruiting a replacement for the Assistant Vice President of Long Term Care position.
    “I have a passion for long term care,” Michele said of her new responsibilities, “I look forward to working with the staff to improve quality of care for the residents.”

    Michele plans to continue improving resident care, and will soon be implementing a quality improvement initiative promoting excellence in nursing homes.  In addition, Michele plans to further develop the physical rehabilitation programs at Mercy and Uihlein.  She is also working with nutritional services to develop a new menu in response to a recent resident satisfaction survey.
    Michele received her nursing degree from North Country Community College 1996, and her Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree from SUNY Plattsburgh 1998.  She actually first started work at Uihlein prior to its affiliation with AMC in various supervisory roles before serving as the Director of Nursing for four years.  She then moved onto Mercy in Tupper Lake and worked as assistant administrator and later administrator after successfully completing the Nursing Home Administrator Program at St. Joseph’s College of Maine.  Following a stint as administrator of Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, Michele returned to Mercy following the new partnership with AMC in January 2007.
    Michele resides in Saranac Lake with her husband Robert Byno Jr. Their son, Rob, is also a resident of Saranac Lake.
