For Our Employees:
Millions of people have stopped smoking for good, and you can join them! If & when you want help to stop smoking, we are here to support you. Through our voucher program, you may be provided with nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) or other medicinal therapies along with one-on-one support. Through a 3-month treatment cycle, you will receive months 1 & 3 of treatment free and you may combine treatment options. To access the program, please contact Linda Savarie at 897-2274. With your input and that of your physician, a treatment plan will be developed that will provide you with the best opportunity for success.

North Country Healthy Heart Network http://tobacco.heartnetwork.org is our local tobacco cessation center funded by NY's Tobacco Control Program. This site has a summary of each of the 7 FDA-approved smoking cessation medications including the pros & cons for each, dosing and cost information along with self-help tools.
American Cancer Society www.cancer.org or 1-800-ACS-2345 offers information about why & how to quit.
American Lung Association www.lungusa.org offers the Freedom From Smoking online program along with many other informational sections related to smoking and smoking cessation.
Medline Plus http://medlineplus.gov is a service of the US National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health and provides smoking cessation provides the latest news, clinical trial research, treatment & coping information, statistics and special population information.

QuitNet www.quitnet.com is a unique online community of smokers and ex-smokers, that delivers personalized quitting plans, expert advice and pharmaceutical product support. The member testimonials on this site are truly motivational. QuitNet was launched in 1995, owned by Healthways and operates in association with Boston University School of Public Health.
Tobacco Free Nurses www.tobaccofreenurses.org (together with QuitNet) is a site tailored for nurses where you can access tools, resources, and scientific guides about quitting, expert counselors available to answer your questions, and most importantly, other nurses who want to quit!
New York Quitline www.nysmokefree.com or 1-866-NY-QUITS offers a free starter kit of patches, gum or lozenges, phone support by a trained specialist, referral to local services & informational taped messages.
