Decker Community Learning Center

Medicine can be confusing. With so many terms and abbreviations, it's sometimes hard to sort it all out and find the information you're looking for. And when you do find information, you need to be sure it's accurate and trustworthy.

That's why the Alfred M. Decker Community Learning Center is here-to provide patients, their families and the community with medical information they can trust. The center honors Alfred M. "Fritz" Decker, M.D., a longtime Tri-Lakes physician who retired in 2001.

Located in the Redfield Medical Office Building at AMC/Saranac Lake campus, the center has videos and brochures on hundreds of health and medical topics and is equipped with an Internet-accessible computer, putting a world of health information at your fingertips.

A registered nurse is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and available by appointment at other hours, to help you through the medical information maze. You can be sure that the information at the Decker Community Learning Center is the most up-to-date and accurate available.

The center can also help you find reliable information on the ever-growing world of complementary and integrative medicine. Click here to send an email regarding the center's resources.

The Decker Community Learning Center is open to anyone in the Tri-Lakes region, whether or not you have been a patient at Adirondack Medical Center.

Here are just a few of the health topics we have information on at the center:

This list is just a small sample of the health topics the center can provide information on. And if we don't have what you're looking for in our office, we'll find it for you. Our goal is to make it easier for you to find the resources you need.
