Healthy Start Series

Preparing for the birth of your new baby can be exciting, but it can also be a little challenging, especially for first-time moms. Adirondack Medical Centers's Healthy Start Series was designed to answer the many questions expectant mothers have about their pregnancy, labor and delivery and postpartum care.

With the help of Adirondack Medical Center 's trained and caring staff, you can learn a lot more about your pregnancy and feel better about yourself, your family and your newest arrival.

Among the classes offered during the six-week series:

Pregnancy and Relaxation
This class, includes tips on nutrition and health during pregnancy, as well as ways to help expectant moms get through the discomforts of pregnancy.

Labor, Delivery and Immediate Post-Partum
This class gives women an idea of what to expect during labor and delivery and how to cope with labor pain.

Baby Care and Safety
This class focuses on keeping your baby safe once you're home from the hospital. A key portion of the class focuses on car seats and how to use them safely.

Baby Feeding
A certified lactation consultant hosts this class which covers not only breastfeeding, but also the important aspects of bottle feeding.
