Colby Center for Psychiatry

As we age, things change. Our bodies slow down, chronic health problems develop and many even face the risk of mental illness. And just as aging may signal certain health problems, those conditions, in turn, could lead to depression or other mental disorders.

Adirondack Medical Center 's Colby Center for Psychiatry, a 12-bed acute care unit for short-term inpatient services, offers patients 55 years of age and older specialized care and one-on-one attention to help them return to their family, friends and everyday lives.  Visiting hours are 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Located at AMC/Saranac Lake, the Colby Center for Psychiatry offers daily group therapy sessions to help patients relieve symptoms and enhance coping skills. All Colby Center patients have access to the full range of medical services offered at Adirondack Medical Center, including consultations with specialists and treatment of mental disorders. Our highly skilled staff of doctors, registered nurses, social workers, psychiatric nurse practioner and physical therapists work with each patient to ensure a smooth transition back to an active, healthy lifestyle. Weekly support group meetings are also available to help family members and caregivers.
