The World Wide Web is full of information on alternative medicine. We have identified several sites that provide accurate and reliable information.

Below are some Web sties that offer more information about complementary and integrative medicine. These sites, though helpful, should not replace the advice of your physician. You should consult with your doctor before you begin any type of herbal regimen.

National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine , at the National Institutes of Health includes links to academic research centers, the Information Clearinghouse and other useful information.

The Office of Dietary Supplements at the National Institutes of Health offers access to a number of periodicals published by ODS and its database of citations of interest.

McMaster University's Alternative Medicine Meta-Index is a very comprehensive collection of Web-based health care information on alternative medicine.

HealthFinder ® is a search engine and database of Web-based resources maintained by a special branch of the Department of Health and Human Services. It is targeted at a specific number of Web sites that undergo a stringent review process before they are catalogued into the system. Currently, there are about 300 alternative medicine sites targeted.

The Mayo Clinic website contains consumer information on complementary and alternative medicine. Click on "Complementary and alternative medicine" in the Health Centers section to search articles.

The Richard and Hilda Rosenthal Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine contains helpful information for consumers, including frequently asked questions about complementary medicine and guidelines for searching the Internet for information.
