Renal Dialysis

With seven dialysis stations, Adirondack Medical Center is able to offer renal dialysis service not only to residents of the Tri-Lakes area but to dialysis patients who may be visiting the area for vacations. If you are a visitor to the area and are in need of our services, please have your doctor refer you to our Dialysis Visitor Program.

Whether you are an Adirondacker or a welcomed guest, we are committed to your care, comfort, education and rehabilitation while you are our guest and our staff is dedicated to your health and wellbeing.

Our dialysis unit utilizes the latest, state-of-the-art equipment for both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis and we are continuously striving to improve. Of course, any suggestions you may have are most welcome.
E-mail us with your questions or comments.

Treatment options
The Adirondack Medical Center Dialysis Unit offers two treatment options. Hemodialysis is for patients who come to the center, while patients staying at home are offered peritoneal dialysis. For patients who will be staying at home, our staff will provide the training you need. We are also available to help patients after leaving the hospital.

If appropriate, our staff can also help patients with an application for a transplantation program.

While at Adirondack Medical Center, patients have many rights, including the right to make an informed choice between different treatment options and the right to refuse to participate in experimental research.

Admissions policy
The Dialysis Center's medical director will have the final decision on a patient's admission to the center. The medical director may deny admission for medical reasons or if hemodialysis is not the right option at this time. Whatever the decision, someone from our staff will talk to the patient about the situation.

AMC does not discriminate based upon gender, race, religion, disability, national origin or age. AMC can accommodate patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics.

Patients who are transferring to another facility will be given as much advanced notice as possible to ensure an orderly transfer and continuity of care. Whether the transfer is temporary or permanent, we will make every effort to find a facility close to the patient's home that will provide the care that is needed.

Hours of operation
The AMC Dialysis Center is open Monday through Saturday, with appointments beginning at 7 a.m. Every effort is made to schedule your appointment at a convenient time. We'll take into account your job and school schedules, as well as transportation issues. Once accepted into the program, you will have a set schedule; we ask that you arrive promptly for your appointment.
