Introduction

 Adirondack Medical Center, incorporated on January 1, 1991 when the General Hospital of Saranac Lake and the Placid Memorial Hospital (Lake Placid) consolidated, is a non-profit, multi-discipline, multi-site, acute-care hospital licensed by the New York State Department of Health to operate 97 beds, and managed by Brim Healthcare, Inc.  The Medical Center currently provides a broad range of both inpatient and outpatient services to the residents of the Tri-Lakes area that encompasses southern Franklin and northern Essex Counties.  Adirondack Medical Center has two acute care hospital sites with the main site located in the Town of Harrietstown (Saranac Lake) and one in the Town of North Elba (Lake Placid), two skilled nursing facilities located in Lake Placid and Tupper Lake as well as clinic sites in the Village of Keene, Town of North Elba (Lake Placid) and the Village of Tupper Lake.
